Ubisoft: "Assassin's Creed Shadows" apparently leaked – too early in stores
Scenes from the upcoming open-world game "Assassin's Creed Shadows" have landed on the web ahead of its release. Developer Ubisoft warns against spoilers.

Ubisoft's upcoming open-world game “Assassin's Creed Shadows” has been leaked: some players have apparently been able to get their hands on and play the new installment in the Assassin's Creed series before its release. Corresponding screenshots and video scenes have been circulating the web, but many posts have since been removed.
Developer Ubisoft has confirmed the leak in a post on the X platform: “We are aware that players have accessed 'Assassin's Creed Shadows' before the official release,” writes Ubisoft. According to the French publisher, however, the leaked scenes are not completely representative of the final product that regular buyers will get to play. The development team is still working on patches for the launch date on March 20.
“Leaks are annoying and can diminish players' anticipation,” writes Ubisoft in the statement on X. “We ask that you do not ruin the experience for others.” The community has already taken steps to protect buyers from spoilers.
Disc versions apparently in circulation
Ubisoft does not provide any information on how the game was leaked in the first place. Posts from players who had access in advance point to the disc version as the culprit: According to them, some disc boxes with the game have been distributed via the Facebook Marketplace, for example. However, it is unclear where they came from.

There are no reports of downloadable builds of “Assassin's Creed Shadows” yet. This differs from the current case of “Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2”, which was made available online last year as a complete download before release. Although the early build of the game was still missing some assets, it was basically completely playable. The developers were therefore not only concerned about spoilers, but also about piracy.
For Ubisoft, “Assassin's Creed Shadows” is an enormously important game release: the French company is under massive economic pressure after repeated flops. The release of “Assassin's Creed Shadows” has already been pushed back several times.
