On Wednesday night, Microsoft released the preview versions of the non-security-relevant parts of the upcoming Windows Update. As a result, bug fixes from the Windows Insider channels are now finding their way into the release versions. At the same time, Microsoft has confirmed a new problem with Windows 11 24H2.
The KB5052093 knowledgebase entry lists the corrections that have been incorporated into the update preview for Windows 11 24H2. One of the most important changes already included in the Windows Insider Release Preview is the OpenSSH secure shell service. This no longer started, which is why SSH connections were no longer possible. Detailed logging also did not take place. If you wanted to use the service, you had to start the “sshd.exe” manually. Now everything should work as expected again.
Other minor bug fixes
The quick creation of Hyper-V machines with Hyper-V Quick Create could also display the error “Could not load file or assembly Newtonsoft.Json”. Under Windows Server 2025, the “Request help” app now opens again. The update also removes the potential error message when opening the settings “The instruction at 0x00007FFEDEBDC003 referenced memory at 0x0000000000000010. The memory could not be read” after they do not respond. This problem could also occur with “RuntimeBroker.exe”.

In remote desktop sessions, display errors could occur or the app could stop responding when connecting to certain PCs. In installations with high-resolution displays (high DPI), apps that use outdated scaling methods could cause issues with drag and drop and objects could not be moved correctly.
Microsoft is planning further improvements and corrections for the gradual distribution. For example, the Task Manager will soon be able to recognize and display an HDD as an SSD. When right-clicking on apps in the taskbar, files can be shared with others directly from the jump list, provided the app supports jump lists. The file explorer should become faster when displaying folders with a large number of media files. When right-clicking on files on cloud storage, the menu could open very slowly. This should soon be history. Apps should also be able to recognize connected scanners. Various other small changes are listed in the KB entry.
In the Windows Release Health Notes, however, Microsoft has acknowledged a new problem with the Windows 11 24H2 update. If it is installed, AutoCAD 2022 can no longer be opened. Other versions, such as AutoCAD 2023, 2024 and 2025, are not affected. Microsoft has set up the Safeguard ID 56211213, which ensures that the 24H2 update is not offered on affected systems.
