Due to leaks to the media: Meta fires 20 people and expects more redundancies
The mood at Meta is in the cellar, as can be seen from the amount of information being leaked to the press. This now has consequences.

Meta has fired "about 20 people" for leaking confidential information from the company and expects more to be fired. This was reported by The Verge with reference to the Facebook group. Meta has stepped up its efforts against leaks, the US magazine adds. The background to this are several leaks about products and internal meetings that have not been publicly announced. In particular, an internal meeting in which Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg sharply criticized the leaks caused a stir. This became public because information about it was extensively passed on to the media.
Much criticism of leaks – which was leaked itself
"We take the matter seriously and will continue to take action when we find leaks", The Verge quotes Meta as saying. It is against internal guidelines to pass on internal information, "regardless of the intention". The magazine also quotes from an internal meeting at the beginning of February. Technical Director (CTO) Andrew Bosworth explained that it was funny with these leaks. When things are leaked, people think that it puts pressure on Meta to change things. But the opposite is more likely.

The Verge itself has made much of the leaked information public and explained that the mood at the US company has recently suffered noticeably. The reason for this are the drastic changes that Zuckerberg has announced for content moderation and many other steps with which the company appears to be pandering to the new US government. A few days before Donald Trump took office, a conservative Republican took over as head of corporate communications at Meta. Zuckerberg himself complained in Joe Rogan's podcast that much of the corporate world is"culturally pretty neutered" and would benefit from more "masculine energy".
