Mirrorless display and long support: TCL's unusual entry-level phone
The 200 euro TCL 60 SE Nxtpaper stands out in the entry-level segment: the display is matt and the manufacturer promises years of support.

Mirrorless display that is insensitive to fingerprints and long-term support: TCL is presenting an unusually equipped entry-level smartphone with the €200 60 SE Nxtpaper. It will receive updates for five years after the end of sales. TCL is thus anticipating the EU Ecodesign Regulation, which makes this period mandatory from June 20. The long update period also applies to the Nxtpaper 11 Plus pen-enabled tablet that was also presented. Cost point: 250 euros.
The 60 SE has a matte-finished display glass. When tested at the MWC 2025 mobile trade fair, it showed almost no reflections and is extremely resistant to fingerprints. According to TCL, the frosted glass also filters the blue component in the light emitted by the screen. It is a 6.7-inch display. The IPS panel displays a maximum of 120 hertz. The HD+ resolution (720p) results in a somewhat coarse pixel density of 260 dpi – TCL does not specify the exact resolution. The maximum brightness is 550 candela per square meter (cd/m²). A slider in the housing frame switches between color and monochrome display. The latter is intended to imitate an e-ink screen, but is still dependent on backlighting.

Old processor technology
The processor is a Dimensity 6300, which Mediatek only presented in 2024, but which uses outdated technology: two Cortex-A76 cores, six Cortex-A55 cores and TSMC's 6-nanometer chip production. ARM introduced the A76 core in 2018. Photos are taken by two rear cameras, including a wide-angle 50-megapixel main camera. This is supported by a 5 MP ultra-wide angle. The smartphone is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash memory, which can be expanded by a maximum of 2 TB using a microSD card. There is also a 3.5 mm jack connection for headphones.

The Nxtpaper 11 Plus is equipped with a similar, but larger screen. This displays 2200 × 1440 pixels on its 11-inch screen. In sunlight, the 120 hertz IPS screen also shines with a maximum brightness of 550 cd/m². The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99, which has access to 8 GB of RAM. The expandable memory has a capacity of 256 GB. The device is only 6.7 mm thin and weighs 500 grams. TCL delivers the tablet with Android 15. The tablet costs 300 euros in a bundle with keyboard and pen, and 250 euros individually.
