TTArtisan presents foldable instant camera with a retro look
The lens manufacturer TTArtisan has presented a foldable instant camera that combines an eye-catching retro design with modern instant photo technology.
The Chinese lens and photo accessories manufacturer TTArtisan has presented its first instant camera at CP+, the world's largest camera and video trade fair in Yokohama, Japan. The model with the name 203T stands out with its retro design, which is reminiscent of classic folding cameras from the last century. The TTArtisan 203T uses Fujifilm's popular Instax Mini film, which is known for its clear image quality. It is a real instant camera, in which the film is exposed directly via the lens, and not a hybrid camera, which does this with the help of an LED line.
Features and technical details
The camera housing, which can also be folded down, is not only reminiscent of the aesthetics of past cameras, it also has a very practical use: The sensitive parts of the device are protected by a more robust cover during transportation. Despite the retro design, the camera is equipped with modern functions designed to increase convenience and user-friendliness.
The 203T offers shutter speeds from one to 1/300 of a second and also has a bulb mode. The shutter is purely mechanical and does not require batteries, so you have to open and close it manually. The instant camera is equipped with an optical viewfinder without a light frame. You focus manually via the lens, without a rangefinder. There is no integrated flash, but there is a flash shoe so that an external flash can be used in low light conditions. The model is available in four colors: black, red, orange and blue.

Retro lens
The camera has a Cooke lens with an aperture range of f/3.5 to f/22. This so-called Cooke triplet was developed as a photographic lens by Harold Dennis Taylor in 1893. As chief engineer of the British company T. Cooks and Sons of York, Taylor's patented design was the first lens system to eliminate or correct the problems known as Seidel aberration.

The optical design consisted of three lens elements in three groups and was a major advance in glass manufacturing at the time. It was used not only for cameras, but also for binoculars, refracting telescopes and projection lenses.

New player in the instant film sector
With the introduction of the 203T, TTArtisan is expanding its portfolio with a completely new product. The retro design combined with modern technology appeals to both analog nostalgics who appreciate the charm of instant photography, as well as beginners and young photographers for whom simple and quick operation is important.
Even though there is no information about the price yet, TTArtisan states that the new camera will be launched in the fall.
