As co-founder of Google, Larry Page has made searching easier for internet users. Now he has embarked on his own search for an AI that will help the industry become significantly more efficient. He wants to achieve this with a new start-up called Dynatomics.
According to the US tech magazine The Information, the development of Dynatomics' artificial intelligence is currently still under wraps. The company is in the so-called stealth phase, in which it is still developing its future product away from the public eye.
AI can help with efficiency
AI in manufacturing is seen as having great potential. It can help to use materials more efficiently by optimizing the design of objects. This results in less waste, so that factories can save on both purchasing and disposal. Further efficiency gains are seen in the acceleration of production and the avoidance of errors because AI can predict them.

To achieve his goal, Page has put together a small team of engineers to develop the AI, which will be used to create "highly optimized designs for objects". The project is led by Chris Anderson, who was previously CTO at Kittyhawk, another Page start-up that previously developed electric airplanes.
Competitors in the manufacturing sector
There are already several players in the AI manufacturing sector that are researching and developing products. Orbital Materials is developing an AI platform for discovering new materials. PhysicsX provides tools for simulations to support engineers in various industries. And the company Instrumental uses AI with visual recognition to detect anomalies at an early stage.
