HR professionals remain: Companies are reluctant to use AI in recruiting
AI has not yet played a role in the application process at most companies. Almost half of companies could soon imagine concluding contracts digitally.

Artificial intelligence has rarely been used in the application process so far. This is the result of a survey conducted by the digital association Bitkom. For example, four percent of companies currently use an AI chatbot to answer applicants' questions. Three percent of companies carry out AI-supported skills and potential analyses. Screenings of application documents and job interviews with AI are now carried out in one percent of companies.
Interest in AI in recruiting is limited
At the same time, companies are also rather cautious about the possible use of artificial intelligence in recruiting. Two thirds of companies state that they do not want to use AI tools in the application process. Nevertheless, around a quarter of companies can imagine using AI in chatbots for applicant questions and analyses. 21 percent of respondents consider AI screening of applications in their companies to be conceivable. However, nine out of ten companies reject AI-supported job interviews.
Apart from artificial intelligence, digital applications are already standard. Almost all companies allow applicants to submit their documents digitally. Just under two thirds conduct job interviews via video conference, and 15 percent intend to do so in the future. Companies see comparatively high potential in the digital conclusion of employment contracts. So far, this is possible in one in four companies, and 46% of those surveyed can imagine this for their company in the future. Although the majority of companies reject digital trial work, 31% see it as a possible application for the future.
