Canvas and Audio Overview: Google's Gemini gets new functions
Canvas helps with coding and text preview in Gemini, audio overviews can be created in Gemini in the future.

If you enter "Canvas" in the Gemini prompt bar, you now get a kind of canvas. Canvas means canvas in German. The empty surface can be used to write, code or scribble. All changes are then shown in real time.
Gemini provides feedback and suggests changes or improvements accordingly or can change an entire style or tone. Canvas also includes various tools for editing content. These can include text, audio and code. The content can then also be exported to Google Docs so that you can work on it together with colleagues or friends.

Google writes in the blog post that Canvas can transform programming ideas into "working prototypes for web applications, Python scripts, games, simulations and other interactive applications". Developers can thus present initial working drafts very quickly. Gemini helps at every step. An example: If someone wants to integrate an e-mail registration form into their own website, Gemini can create it using HTML and also show a preview of how it will look in the web application. Changes can simply be requested using natural language and the implementation can be seen directly in the preview. The big advantage according to Google – is that you don't have to switch between different applications.
Canvas is available in all languages of the Gemini app and is now available worldwide. OpenAI also has a function called Canvas up its sleeve. Here too, it is intended to improve collaborations with ChatGPT, making AI a better help.
Audio Overviews for Gemini
Audio Overview is also moving into Gemini. This is a function that turns all text-based content into a kind of podcast with two AI moderators who can also be interviewed. This should make content easier to understand, explain contexts and, of course, summarize it.
Gemini and Gemini Advanced subscribers have access to the podcast function in English – Other languages will follow soon. The audio files can then be downloaded and shared so that you can listen to something on the go that you would otherwise only be able to read.
