SUSE has announced the release of SUSE Rancher for SAP applications at its in-house exhibition in Orlando. It is a package of SAP-certified components around the in-house Kubernetes platform Rancher Prime with Linux, virtualization, databases and integrated support. The aim is to enable organizations to integrate sensitive data and external applications with SAP cloud applications. SUSE is also positioning its Kubernetes in the banking sector. The first step is the certification for Temenos Core, a platform for banks and other financial institutions.
SUSE brings Kubernetes platform to the cloud
In addition, SUSE will be offering the enterprise version of Rancher Prime as Software-as-a-Service in the cloud from April 2025. As an alternative to the self-installed and managed Kubernetes platform, customers can use the service directly and pay as they use it. Users can use SUSE Cloud Observability to monitor the stability of platforms, containers, and applications in the AWS marketplace. There is also the SUSE Application Collection, a collection of ready-made instructions, containers, and Helm charts for cloud-based enterprise applications.
Furthermore, SUSE now offers SUSE Private Registry for Rancher Prime, which is based on the open-source project Harbor. The tool allows organizations to manage their container images. Currently, only selected customers can access it in Early Access. However, it is expected that the product will soon be available to all customers, at least as a technical preview. According to individual discussions, specific customer requirements were the impetus for SUSE Private Registry. This also applies to the extended selection of data carriers for SUSE Virtualization. Storage from Dell, NetAPP, Oracle and Portworx can be integrated into the platform and is fully supported and certified.
SUSE AI gets agent-based AI
SUSE AI is also getting agent-based AI based on MLFlow. The AI sector is characterized by rapid changes. That's why SUSE AI has a modular structure and can respond almost as quickly, Abhinav Puri, General Manager Portfolio Solutions and Service, and Sanjeet Singh, Senior Director Product Management, told iX. This involves the integration and certification of corresponding open-source technologies such as MLFlow. SUSE AI was already launched in November 2024 with Ollama, Milvus and OpenWebUI.

SUSE also announced a partnership with Infosys. Together, they developed the Responsible AI Suite, which is designed to ensure ethical AI practices, regulatory compliance and data protection in AI workloads in SUSE AI. The company also entered into a cooperation with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) for the hardware required to operate the in-house AI application. The company also announced at SUSECon that SLES 15 will receive a final upgrade with SP7.
