Over 46,000 Cybertrucks have to go to the workshop. The reason is that the adhesive used to attach a roof strip can dissolve.

Tesla is recalling over 46,000 vehicles because parts can come off the body of the Cybertruck while driving. It is not the first Tesla model to have this happen.

The roof strip on several Cybertrucks has come loose and fallen off. Several videos showing this are circulating on social media. The component starts at the windshield and extends over both doors. In the middle, it took the kick of the roof with it.

Owners of the Cybertruck had filed complaints with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). According to the NHTSA, Tesla is now recalling 46,096 Cybertrucks that were built between mid-November 2023 and the end of February 2025. Delivery of the vehicles has already been stopped.

According to the NHTSA, the relatively long trim element is not welded on, but only glued. The bonding could come loose. If this happens while driving, it poses a danger to following vehicles.

This is the eighth recall for the chunky electric vehicle since it was launched in December 2023. One was because the plate on the power pedal could shift and block the pedal.

The roof bar is also not the first part to fall off: Tesla had to recall the Cybertruck because the front panel came loose. It is also glued. Temperature fluctuations may have affected the adhesive.

The Cybertruck is also not the first Tesla model to have a part fall off: in October 2020, the glass roof of a Model Y flew off on the highway.
