Apple's map service had to contend with a strange display error on Sunday. Users in the USA were shown the baggage claims of individual airports in an unusually prominent position, even if they zoomed out completely. These were still in the field of view even when the entire globe was visible.
The bug was apparently first noticed by users on Reddit, who initially believed it was a user error. In fact, however, the point-of-interest icons could not be hidden, which is why a backend error at Apple can be assumed. In the meantime, there have been no new reports about this, which is why Apple has probably already fixed the error. A software update does not appear to be necessary for this.
Normally only on indoor maps
The bug could be observed on iPhones, iPads and Macs. What was also curious about the bug was that individual airports were affected, but the display functioned completely normally at most airports.
Normally, the baggage issues only appear when zooming in very close to airports. The indoor maps function, which Apple also offers for larger shopping centers, is then activated.
