No more oversleeping: better alarm clock in watchOS 11.4
When the Apple Watch is muted, the alarm clock app has so far only used vibration alarms. This is to be improved with watchOS 11.4.

The next update of the operating system for the Apple Watch should ensure that users no longer oversleep so easily with a new selector switch. With watchOS 11.4, it will be possible to select whether the alarm clock app should wake up with a sound even when the watch is muted. This was previously not possible and some people simply did not notice the gentle tap on their wrist while they were asleep.
The new option, which is called "Break Through Silent Mode", can be found in the Sleep app on the Apple Watch. First, tap the alarm clock icon in the top left-hand corner. When the alarm clock is activated, there is an entry "Sounds and haptics", behind which the new setting is hidden. The option should also be available in the alarm clock app if an active alarm clock is selected there.
Release candidate issued
The release candidate for watchOS 11.4 was published on Monday together with iOS 18.4. If there are no subsequent changes, this will correspond to the final version, which is expected at the end of March or beginning of April.
Otherwise, watchOS 11.4 only contains minor changes: A bug that caused the watch to become inoperable when changing watch faces has been fixed, according to Apple. The operating system will also support Matter-compatible robot vacuum cleaners in its smart home control. This function was supposed to come early on, but was a long time coming.

Completion of watchOS 11
The new version completes watchOS 11, which Apple presented at the WWDC developer conference in June 2024. The new features of the 11 update include the ability to pause activity rings for a certain period of time and further personalization in the fitness app. There are also changes to the widgets, which are more interactive, and the Smart Stack also supports live activities since watchOS 11.
