The date for Apple's WWDC developer conference this year has been set. It will open on June 9, 2025 with a "special event" in Apple Park. As in previous years, the iPhone manufacturer will hold the major developer meeting largely online. Various activities such as online labs and video sessions will take place until June 13. A selection of developers and students will be able to watch the keynote in Cupertino on site.
The signs are pointing to a redesign this year. Allegedly, iOS 19 and macOS 16 are to be changed on a larger scale – There is talk of an alignment with the design principles of visionOS. Apple itself is remaining completely mum on the content of the WWDC keynote. The colorful lettering also gives little indication of the content. It is also eagerly awaited how Apple will comment on the progress of Apple Intelligence. Criticism was recently voiced when the extended Siri had to be postponed.
Is hardware also coming?
iOS 19, iPadOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12 and tvOS 19 are expected this year. visionOS 3, which could incorporate user experience on a larger scale for the first time, could also be interesting – Some people will remember the Apple Watch operating system watchOS, whose profile was also significantly sharpened in version 3.

As always, hardware announcements are also possible. Hot candidates are a new Mac Pro and the second-generation AirTags. However, Apple has often held WWDC keynotes without new hardware.
Registration via website
Developers interested in attending the event can register on Apple's WWDC website. Confirmations will be sent out at the beginning of April. WWDC is also always a meeting place for young developers. As part of the Swift Student Challenge, notifications will be sent out on March 27th about who will get the chance to travel to California this year.
