Spotify is bringing its partner program for influencers and other media professionals to Germany on 29 April. It is also available in the USA, Australia, Canada and the UK. Eight more countries are to follow. The program is designed to offer registered partners more income opportunities by monetizing their content.

How much can be earned depends on the number of listeners. This is possible in detail through the placement of advertisements in the free version and also through views of videos within Spotify Premium. The program is primarily aimed at podcast creators.

The other advertising partnerships that podcasters operate and already incorporate into their episodes will not be affected by the new advertising opportunities. The partner program is intended to offer another option for earning money. According to Spotify, the company has been able to increase revenue from partners by 300 percent compared to January last year.

"Spotify is committed to giving creators more ways to grow their audience and interact with fans in the format that best suits their style and show - either audio, video or both," says Roman WasenmĂĽller, Head of Podcast at Spotify. Creators will receive 50 percent of the revenue generated by Spotify's built-in advertising.

For the USA, Australia and Canada, the requirements to earn money through Spotify are a number of 12 or more episodes, 10,000 hours of streaming time of the content in the past 30 days and 2,000 different listeners in the same period. Similar parameters can also be set for Germany.

However, it is also possible to distribute existing paid content via Spotify. These are subscriptions that run via platforms such as Patreon or Substack. The requirements here are a number of two episodes and 100 different listeners in the last 60 days. The creator can then upload these to Spotify and reach more listeners there.
