Google has confirmed the sales dates for its Pixel 9a. In the UK, Canada and the USA, the smartphone will be available from April 10, 2025. Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other European countries will have their turn on April 14, with only a "coming soon" date for Japan, according to Google.
The company unveiled the device ten days ago and, as usual with the Pixel, it was expected to go on sale soon. Instead, only April was mentioned as the date, but Google has now confirmed the specific dates. According to Google, there will be no pre-orders at retailers until the sales launch.
The Pixel 9a is seen as a beacon of hope for the current mid-range of Android smartphones and will cost from €549 with 128 GB of flash memory and 8 GB of RAM. It also comes with a 6.3-inch OLED display and the Google Tensor G4, a powerful SoC for its class, as well as two cameras, one of which has 48 megapixels. Google is also offering a seven-year update promise and a new design without the camera bar on the back of the Pixel. Further data can be found in an earlier report.

Problem with passive component
The company had not previously commented on the reasons for the delayed market launch, but has now made up for this with 9to5Google. According to the report, there were quality problems with a "passive component", which can be a resistor or a capacitor, for example. According to Google, this could have affected the longevity of the smartphone and has now been rectified. Furthermore, only a small proportion of devices were affected.
