In Saxony-Anhalt, the Ministry of Education has given the go-ahead for the digital education offering “Lernwelt Sachsen-Anhalt”. In the future, Lernwelt will provide digital services for pupils and teachers in the state. Among other things, this includes the fourth state license for the education provider Fobizz.
The digital “Learning World Saxony-Anhalt” has not yet been fully developed and is currently still divided into sub-projects and elements in the project development phase. It is being implemented by the Saxony-Anhalt State Institute for School Quality and Teacher Training (LISA). According to the Ministry of Education, it is intended to establish a contemporary and modern understanding of teaching and learning and, above all, to drive forward “the pedagogical transformation in an increasingly digitalized world”. The focus is therefore not only on technical equipment. The learning world will create a flexible learning environment that can respond to the individual needs of pupils.
Education Minister Eva Feußner (CDU) explained: “With the 'Learning World Saxony-Anhalt', we are sending a clear signal: we want our pupils to have the best conditions for a successful future. Digitally supported learning is not a luxury, but a necessity. We are investing in innovative learning methods, modern technologies and further training for our teachers to ensure that Saxony-Anhalt is a leader in the field of digital education.”
Live and asynchronous
The first sub-projects include the creation of a flexible online learning offer with live and asynchronous elements, and the networking of existing offers and their extensions on a central portal. The range of further training courses for teachers will be expanded. A Fobizz state license is also being used for this purpose. This makes Saxony-Anhalt the fourth federal state – after Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony – to provide digital training and open educational resources (OER) for its teachers via Fobizz. The company made the announcement this week.

Kathrin Blanke-Hänsel, Teaching and Learning Resources in Digitality in School Education Officer at the State Institute (LISA), explained: “By testing state licenses for online training courses from external partners in addition to the training courses offered by LISA, we are taking a further step towards contemporary teaching and learning. We want to support teachers in meaningfully integrating digital technologies into their lessons and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their learning.
The content on Fobizz is suitable for all types of schools and subjects, and training courses can be completed flexibly and at your pace. In addition to training and teaching materials, AI services are also integrated into Fobizz so that further materials can be created or used in lessons with pupils. Teachers can register free of charge via the Saxony-Anhalt education server to access the service. This does not mean that teachers are obliged to use the service, but teachers who are willing to train no longer have to pay for the service themselves, thanks to a state license.
Avatars, 3D printers and more software licenses
As part of the project development for the “Learning World Saxony-Anhalt”, a telepresence avatar is to be developed in the future for pupils who are unable to physically attend lessons. There will also be stationary and mobile digital labs that provide access to robotics and 3D printing. The further integration of AI will be introduced to relieve teachers and individualize learning. Furthermore, nationwide licenses for educational software are to be made available to promote STEM subjects.
