heise online was able to try out the upcoming Switch 2 in Paris. The second hybrid console from Nintendo will be released in Germany on June 5 for 470 euros and offers a larger screen with 1080p resolution and 120 Hertz as well as HDR support, more hardware power and, as a special gimmick, a new type of mouse control.

On site, editor Michael Wieczorek was not only able to play the potential system seller “Mario Kart World”, but also take a closer look at “Cyberpunk 2077”, “Donkey Kong Bananza” and “Metroid Prime 4” with the mouse controls.

What remains after four hours of playing is the significantly better build quality of the Switch 2 compared to its predecessor and lots of gaming fun. The performance seems to be pretty much between PlayStation 4 and 5 or Xbox One and Series X – just in the optional handheld version. Compared to Valve's Steam Deck, the Switch 2 seems to offer more modern technology. The mouse function is surprisingly precise and is immediately popular, even with 3rd party developers such as Firaxis in the form of “Civilization 7”. Further assessments of the individual titles can be found in the hands-on video.
