The first trailer for the long-awaited third part of the Tron series was released by Disney on Saturday. This means that the cinema release date is now also clear. In "Tron: Ares", worlds collide – the trailer shows lightcycles on the highway, for example, which can cause massive damage. Visually, the film follows in the footsteps of 2010's "Tron Legcy", but is more alarming in a lot of red. The one-minute preview certainly shows a lot of eye-candy.

"Tron: Ares" – cinema release in October
The trailer states the release date in cinemas as 10.10.2025. It follows on from "Tron Legacy", the worthy successor to the first part from 1982, with a gap of around 15 years. However, this is not an initially planned sequel starring Olivia Wilde, among others, but a reboot with new connections.
Disney describes the film as follows: "'Tron: Ares' follows a sophisticated program, Ares, that is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission and represents humanity's first encounter with AI beings." The program Ares is played by Jared Leto, with Jeff Bridges also rejoining the cast as Kevin Flynn. The trailer also briefly shows Gillian Anderson.
In 2020, it was announced that Disney was considering a sequel to the Tron series. Jared Leto was already being considered for a leading role at the time. Insiders speculated about Australian Garth Davis as the director, but in the end Joachim Rønning was chosen to direct the film. The Norwegian had already proven a lucky hand with blockbusters such as Maleficent and part of the Pirates of the Caribbean series.
Filming was due to start in 2023, but was delayed by the screenwriters' strikes in Hollywood. At the beginning of 2024, director Joachim Rønning announced that production had begun. Nine Inch Nails (NiN), who have enjoyed cult status in the IT sphere since Quake at the latest, are responsible for the soundtrack.
