Google is expanding the Discover feed from mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets to the desktop. In future, article recommendations will land on Google.com.
During the Search Central Live Events in Madrid, Google announced that it will bring the personalized Discover news feed to the Google.com homepage on the desktop. Users of Android smartphones in particular will be familiar with the function, which is located on the left-hand home screen by default. But Discover has also been available in the mobile Chrome browser for years.
Google Discover on other interfaces
As reported by Search Engine Roundtable, among others, the Discover feed will be displayed in a new search window below the search. As with Android smartphones, it will not only consist of article recommendations, but will also show the current weather and other customizable information such as sports results, stock market information and your own calendar.
As with the mobile versions, users are required to log in with their Google account. The customizable content and recommendations are then synchronized and displayed across devices.

Google has been testing Discover for the desktop for years
Google has been experimenting with a desktop version of the customizable Discover feed since at least 2023, as the company confirmed. However, this was only an experiment in India at the time.
The company has not yet communicated when Google will begin the large-scale release in Germany that has been announced for all Chrome users. It merely states that Discover will be rolled out gradually and that users will be able to activate the function as soon as it is available on their device. In the USA, the first users can already access the new function.
