Be quiet presents its first keyboards
The manufacturer Be quiet, known for its cases, coolers and power supply units, is entering the peripherals market. Including: a modular model with display.

Be quiet's acquisition of keyboard manufacturer Mountain is beginning to bear fruit: the Listan subsidiary is presenting the first two keyboards under its own name, the Light Mount and Dark Mount. Both models use a similar base with a complete keyboard layout (full-size) and free-standing keys (switches), which are embedded in a brushed aluminum top.
Thanks to several insulating layers of foam or silicone inside the housing and silent switches, both keyboards should be quiet when typing. The buttons and stabilizers on the space bar, Enter, Shift and Backspace are lubricated on the inside ex works. If the grease is applied evenly, this makes the potential keys somewhat smoother and the stabilizers less rickety.
Be quiet offers two button variants to start with: A linear orange one with a trigger force of 45 grams and a black tactile 55-gram version. Western manufacturers typically have their buttons produced by Chinese companies. It is not known from which manufacturer the Be-quiet types originate.
The keyboards are hot-swappable. If you want to try out other buttons, you can use your own. All MX switch-style types fit, regardless of whether they have three or five pins. Each button has its own RGB LED, with additional RGB LEDs located on the edges of the housing. The keycaps are made of double-molded PBT plastic (double shot) and have translucent lettering.

The Light Mount is designed to cover the vast majority of gamers' keyboard requirements. It has five macro keys on the left and a volume wheel. The Dark Mount, on the other hand, is clearly inspired by the Mountain Everest Max with its modules: The numeric keypad can be mounted on either the left or right side. It contains eight programmable keys at the top. Each key contains a tiny LCD display with 140Â Ă— 140 pixels; all screens can display any logo.
A multimedia module can be connected either at the top left or top right. In addition to a volume wheel and additional buttons, it contains its own display, for example for navigating a media player.

Programming in the browser
Be quiet provides an IO Center for programming its own keyboards. This works either via a Windows installation or via a web browser. If the manufacturer has copied the functionality of the QMK firmware and Via interface, changes are written directly to the keyboard firmware. The connection is always via USB-C.
Be quiet follows other manufacturers with high prices: The Light Mount has a recommended retail price of 170 euros and the Dark Mount of 260 euros. Delivery is scheduled to begin later this month.
