Airbnb now also shows total prices with extra fees directly worldwide

Anyone searching for accommodation on Airbnb will now see the total price including all extra fees in the results overview and not just during the booking process. This applies regardless of where you are going and where you are booking from, Airbnb has now announced.

Airbnb justifies this step with more transparency and better comparability of offers for guests. It also makes it easier for hosts to optimize their pricing more effectively, as the actual total price of the offer is visible in the search results as an important decision criterion.

At the request of the EU Commission, Airbnb already adjusted the total price displayed in search results in parts of Europe in 2019 so that all mandatory fees and taxes are included. However, the change, which has now been implemented worldwide, does not mean that the price displayed is now identical everywhere, as Airbnb states that the search results in some countries still do not include local taxes.

Furthermore, the total price display was already available in Australia, Canada and Korea, according to Airbnb. It was also available as an option in the USA and numerous other countries.

The timing of the global launch is probably no coincidence: on May 12, a ban on misleading pricing practices passed by the Federal Trade Commission in the USA comes into force, which the previous results overview would probably have violated.
