If you read your emails on your tablet or foldable with the Google Gmail app, you can expect some new features. Among other things, Google is adding a slider and an AI image generator.
With the new slider, the display area of the list of emails and the mail preview can be flexibly enlarged and reduced by sliding it to the left or right, Google writes on a blog post. For example, you can also make one of the two areas disappear completely. This option is now available on all Android devices with large screens, such as tablets and foldables. According to Google, this function has already been delivered to all corresponding users. The new feature is available for both Google Workspace accounts and private accounts.

Anyone who uses Gmail for a fee via their Google Workspace subscription or has subscribed to Google One AI Premium should now also have the image generator from Google's AI Gemini available on Android and iOS devices. The function should appear in the sidebar and enable generated images to be saved, copied or pasted into a draft email. The function is currently being delivered to corresponding Gmail users. It will also be available to anyone using Gemini Education or the Gemini Education Premium add-on. It will also be available to users who have purchased a Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-on.
At the end of March, Google had already announced another AI feature in Gmail: a modified search function for emails that works with other search mechanisms supported by AI. Google calls this "most relevant" search results. However, users should still be able to distinguish between the new and the old search function.
