Meta AI: standalone app including social media feed
Meta's AI assistant is getting a standalone app that can do more than just chat and generate images. And it serves as an interface for Meta's glasses.

The new Meta AI app is intended to be a "central point of contact for all interactions with Meta AI". To date, the AI assistant has been integrated into Meta's other services, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger and, in Germany, Ray-Ban glasses. In the new app, there will be an area that acts like a social network. However, the Meta AI app is initially only available in full in the USA, with Germany to follow shortly.
Meta describes it as a "more social, more intuitive AI experience" – Mark Zuckerberg calls it a "more personal AI". The new app can be seamlessly connected to the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses and is intended to become the central interface for interacting with Meta AI. It will also work with future AI devices that Meta will launch on the market, Zuckerberg says in a video.
Ray-Ban glasses and social media with AI
With Ray-Ban glasses, information can already be stored in the associated app and communicated to the integrated AI by voice. For example, reminders can also be set and QR codes can be read. On devices on which the Meta View app for the glasses is already installed, it automatically becomes the Meta AI app. Basically, the new app is designed for speech, not typing. Of course, it can still save photos and videos. Settings are retained with the reassignment to the new app.

A new discovery feed has been added, reminiscent of common social media feeds. You select it and images are displayed; swiping upwards brings up a new image. In this feed, you can explore and share how you use AI, such as prompts and images. At the opening of Meta's in-house AI conference LlamaCon on Tuesday evening, Chief Product Officer Chris Cox said that people often don't know what to do with an AI service. The feed is intended to remedy this.
Meta AI now also remembers information about the user – if the user wants it to. The memory function is based on Llama 4, writes Meta. Accordingly, the entire substructure of the app should be based on Meta's latest AI model. Meta AI is cross-platform and the history is synchronized across all devices. Zuckerberg sees it as an advantage that Meta AI will soon know "a lot about you and the people who are important to you".
