Rockstar Games surprises with second "GTA 6" trailer
Shortly after the release postponement, a new trailer for "GTA 6" has been released. It focuses primarily on the new protagonist couple.

"GTA 6" has just made waves with a release postponement to 2026. Now developer studio Rockstar is following up with some positive news: A second trailer for the upcoming open-world action game not only confirms the new release date in May 2026, but also introduces the protagonist couple for the first time.

Like the first trailer, the video consists mainly of cutscenes and does not appear to show any pure gameplay sections. Nevertheless, the in-engine excerpts shown give a preview of the graphics that gamers can expect in "GTA 6".
In "GTA 6" you will probably be able to play two characters: the couple Jason and Lucia, who Rockstar portrays not only in the trailer but also on a new website. "In the midst of a criminal conspiracy that spans the entire state of Leonida, they are forced to rely on each other more than ever before if they want to survive," Rockstar writes about the couple there.
Jason is further described as a "drug pusher" who would like to try something new. Lucia ended up in a state prison because she fought for her family, it continues. She has learned her lesson and is "not planning to do anything stupid from now on". The action-packed trailer casts doubt on the success of this noble resolution.

Rockstar needs more time
Rockstar had pushed "GTA 6" back in the past week. Additional time is needed to "deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve", Rockstar Games wrote to "GTA" players. The studio had previously targeted fall 2025 as the release window.
This news was not necessarily unexpected for the industry, but it was still unpleasant. In the midst of falling sales figures and mixed financial results for major studios, the entire industry is hoping that the launch of 'GTA 6' will give it a new lease of life after all, its predecessor 'GTA 5' is the most successful entertainment product of all time.
