Neobank N26 is expanding its business and is now offering mobile phone contracts. Vodafone is on board as the network operator.
Just a few days after N26 CEO Valentin Stalf announced in a Bloomberg interview that he would be entering the mobile phone market, Neobank is getting down to business: the bank's German customers can now book and activate mobile phone tariffs directly via the N26 app.
N26 SIM: Neobank with three tariff options
For N26 customers, the company offers three different tariffs with 10, 30 or 100 GB of data volume, which cost 13.99, 19.99 and 34.99 euros per month. N26 does not offer a physical SIM card; all tariffs are only available with an eSIM, which requires a compatible smartphone.
All tariffs include a flat rate for national calls and text messages as well as free roaming in the EU. The N26 SIM is based on Vodafone Germany's 5G network and is provided in cooperation with mobile network partner 1Global.
Contract conclusion and tariff management in the N26 app
N26 SIM tariffs are booked via the N26 app. The app is also used to activate the eSIM and manage the mobile tariff. The company also promises that users can switch between several phone numbers and tariffs on one device, for example to separate private and professional use or to remain flexible when abroad.

N26 also emphasizes that a monthly notice period eliminates fixed contract terms. Users can also change their booked tariff on a monthly basis if they need more or less data volume.
An N26 bank account is required to use the bank's mobile tariff. The offer is currently not available to all of the bank's customers: The gradual introduction of N26 SIM is initially taking place for private customers in Germany; business customers are still excluded. N26 also intends to expand the offer to other European markets "in due course".
With this offer, N26 is ahead of its competitor Revolut, which announced just a few days ago that it would be entering the mobile market in the course of the year.
