iOS 18.5: Screen time will help tricked parents in the future
The release of iOS 18.5 is imminent. There is a new notification for Screen Time users when someone has guessed the code.

It's a small change to the iPhone operating system, but one that should please parents: With iOS 18.5, adults will receive a notification when using Screen Time if the settings on a child's device have been unlocked using a code. If the children have found out the correct code, parents or guardians will quickly find out in future if their offspring are setting their app limits and other restrictions as they see fit.
The next major update version for the iPhone is expected as early as next week, after Apple recently published the release candidate, i.e. the finished version, which will undergo a final test before release. The Screen Time extension will also be included in macOS 15.5, which is expected at the same time.
Apple makes small adjustments
In contrast to iOS 18.4, which Apple Intelligence brought to the EU, 18.5 is more of a minor tweak. According to the release notes that have now been published, users will be able to show and hide contact photos in the inbox in the Mail app. Grouping by sender can also be switched off in the future.

Maintaining tradition, the recently introduced Pride wristband for the Apple Watch will be joined by a corresponding background image, which will also be delivered to all users with the operating system update. Customers who have booked AppleCare+ should have easier access to information on this in the Settings app.
New additional satellite support
However, some people may be confused by the support for satellite services, which is suddenly being introduced with the update going back to the iPhone 13. However, this is by no means the satellite connectivity for emergency call SOS that Apple introduced on the hardware side with the iPhone 14, but rather support for classic mobile radio frequencies that are served by satellites close to the earth. In this way, satellite network operators and mobile phone providers want to cover unserved areas in the USA and elsewhere.
