German Computer Game Award: "Enshrouded" is the best game of 2025
Survival from Frankfurt: Following the Developer Award, Enshrouded has also won the main award at the German Computer Game Award.

The survival game "Enshrouded" has been named best game of the year at the German Computer Game Awards 2025. It is the second major award for the title from Frankfurt-based studio Keen Games, which was already named best game at the German Developer Award last December.

"Enshrouded" is a survival role-playing game with optional co-op elements that is still being actively developed and is set in a medieval fantasy world. Players fight monsters, complete quests and construct buildings. Enshrouded was launched as an early access title in January 2024. Since then, numerous updates with improvements and new content have been released. Nevertheless, "Enshrouded" is still in the Early Access phase today.

According to the developers, "Enshrouded" has been played by over 4 million people. In the main category of the German Computer Game Award, the survival game came out on top against "Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders" by Megagon Industries and "Thronefall" by Grizzly Games. The prize for the best video game at the German Computer Game Awards is endowed with 100,000 euros. Studio Keen Games received a further 40,000 euros for the prize in the "Best Innovation and Technology" category, which also went to "Enshrouded".

The other winners include the games "Nordhold" (Best Debut), "PRIM" (Best Family Game), "Thronefall" (Best Game Design) and "Harold Halibut" (Best Graphic Design). Split Fiction" was honored as the best international game, while the prize for best studio went to Megagon, the team behind "Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders".
The German Computer Game Award has been in existence since 2009 and is awarded by the industry association game together with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. The jury is made up of journalists and representatives from the games industry, among others. Last year, the space shooter "Everspace 2" won the main prize.
