Mini tower housing for the Raspi 5 now supports two SSDs
The Pironman 5 Max retains its unique design apart from the color, but can now accommodate two SSDs.

The Chinese manufacturer Sunfounder is relaunching its mini tower housing for the Raspberry Pi 5. The Pironman 5 Max now uses black anodized aluminum and the acrylic glass is dark-colored. Inside, a new adapter for M.2 SSDs is used, which now accommodates two instead of one card with a length of up to 80 mm.
The M.2 slots are mainly intended for NVMe SSDs, but also accommodate other types of expansion, such as the Hailo-8L AI accelerator. Sunfounder makes do with a PCI Express 2.0 switch on the adapter. As the Raspberry Pi 5 only runs a single PCIe lane, users are limited to around 500 MByte/s, i.e. roughly SATA 3 speed.

The rest of the equipment remains the same. A Raspi 5 is screwed to the rear panel of the housing, just like a desktop PC. The cut-outs for the USB ports and Gigabit Ethernet of the single-board computer are located at the rear. The manufacturer also accommodates two HDMI 2.0 ports and the USB-C power connection via an additional board.
Another additional board transports the GPIO pin header to the side panel. The microSD card slot is accessible via an extension on the front of the housing. The small 0.96-inch OLED display on the front can show all kinds of data, such as CPU temperatures.
Sunfounder also includes a small tower cooler with fan for the Raspberry Pi 5 with the Pironman 5 Max. Two small RGB fans are attached to the rear of the case. There are no large openings for fresh air at the front. Air enters the housing via the punched-out product name and gaps. With the low waste heat of the Raspi 5, this should not be a problem.

Shipping in June
As standard, the Pironman 5 Max costs 95 US dollars including taxes and shipping from the Far East. This corresponds to a good 85 euros. Sunfounder is selling the case with a 25 percent discount at the start. Delivery is scheduled to begin by June 15, 2025.
Sales in Germany should follow later. The normal Pironman 5 is available in this country for around 80 euros.
