"Fallout" on Prime Video: Season 2 coming in September

The second season of the "Fallout" series will be released on Prime Video in December. This was announced by Prime Video operator Amazon at its upfront event in New York. The tech giant also confirmed a third season for the successful series spin-off of the cult video game series –, but there is no release date yet.

According to Amazon, the second season of "Fallout" will be set in New Vegas, which was already hinted at at the end of season 1. New Vegas is one of the most popular locations in the video games. For many 'Fallout' fans, the spin-off 'Fallout New Vegas' is the best game in the role-playing series – even though it was not developed by Bethesda itself, but by Obsidian Entertainment.

Successful first season

Season 1 of the "Fallout" series was a great success for both Amazon and Bethesda: the series was watched by over 100 million people worldwide, writes Amazon –, although it is not clear how many of them actually finished watching it. However, the hype surrounding the series has also boosted the video game originals. Several "Fallout" titles were able to attract new players and even set user records in some cases.

Bethesda used the release of 'Fallout' for an extensive cross-media campaign and released, among other things, a slightly revised next-gen version of 'Fallout 4', thanks to which players of the latest Xbox and Playstation models can play the Bethesda role-playing game in 60 FPS for the first time. The online experiment "Fallout 76", which was controversial among many players, also experienced an upswing thanks to the series release.

Bethesda announced a second season shortly after the launch of the series in April 2024. The second season was produced in Los Angeles, California – Season 1 was filmed in New York City. The first teasers for the second season are already circulating online.
