DJI presented the latest member of its professional Mavic series today, the Mavic 4 Pro. According to the manufacturer, the model, which is available at list prices from 2100 euros, is equipped with a brand-new Hasselblad sensor with 100 megapixels, two telephoto cameras with large CMOS sensors and a 360-degree rotating “Infinity Gimbal”.
The triple camera system of the Mavic 4 Pro offers focal lengths of 28 mm, 70 mm and 168 mm and is therefore suitable for both wide-angle shots of expansive landscapes and detailed close-ups in the telephoto range. According to DJI, all three cameras use “Dual Native ISO Fusion” for the seamless combination of high and low ISO values, as well as RAW stacking of up to five images. Functions such as “Free Panoramas” and “Subject Focusing” are intended to ensure consistently high image quality.

Three cameras in one drone
The 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad main camera uses a 100 megapixel sensor and supports the proprietary “Hasselblad Natural Color Solution” (HNCS) color management system, which is designed to ensure color fidelity and maximum flexibility in post-processing. According to DJI, an aperture of f/2.0 to f/11 enables clear images even in low light conditions and lens flare effects. The 70 mm telephoto camera is equipped with a 48-megapixel sensor in 1/1.3-inch format and an aperture of f/2.8 and is supported by a new image processor, according to the manufacturer. Finally, the 168mm telephoto camera uses a 50-megapixel 1/1.5-inch sensor with a large f/2.8 aperture and, according to DJI, uses a gimbal algorithm specially optimized for telephoto lenses to ensure unparalleled image quality and stability when shooting aerial shots from a long distance.
All three cameras support 4K/60fps HDR video recording. The Hasselblad main camera also offers the ability to record HDR video in 6K and at 60fps and, according to DJI, has a dynamic range of up to approximately 16 stops. The medium telephoto camera offers a dynamic range of 14 f-stops and the telephoto camera 13 f-stops. If you want to achieve excitement and visual effects through slow-motion shots, you can film in 4K/120fps with the Hasselblad main camera and the medium telephoto camera, while the telephoto camera supports 4K/100fps1. All three cameras feature 10-bit D-Log, D-Log M and HLG color profiles for consistent color reproduction across footage.
Content can be captured instantly without the need for an external memory card, as the standard version of the DJI Mavic 4 Pro is equipped with a 64GB memory module1. For users with larger storage needs, the Mavic 4 Pro Creator Combo offers built-in 512GB storage and also supports video recording with ALL-I 4:2:2 encoding.
Safer in low light conditions
The Mavic 4 Pro is the first DJI drone to feature an innovative gimbal that enables a full 360° rotation1 and 70° upward shots for unprecedented perspectives. Dramatic “Dutch Angles” can be captured directly with the camera or completely new perspectives can be created with fluid, seemingly weightless gimbal movements.
Six fisheye sensors for low light conditions and dual processors provide the Mavic 4 Pro with high-resolution environment detection. According to DJI, it can avoid obstacles in low light conditions at speeds of up to 18 m/s (64.8 km/h). In addition, according to DJI, the Mavic 4 Pro can memorize its flight route with sufficient lighting and return to the starting point without GPS thanks to real-time positioning and map generation. The Mavic 4 Pro features ActiveTrack 360°, which is designed to enable stable and cinematic tracking even in poor lighting conditions. The Mavic 4 Pro should be able to focus on a subject even if it is partially obscured by bushes or standing on a bridge. According to DJI, it also recognizes vehicles from a distance of up to 200 m with direction recognition.
With its 95 Wh battery, the Mavic 4 Pro achieves a flight time of up to 51 minutes, top speeds of up to 90 km/h and a maximum range of 41 km, according to DJI. According to the manufacturer, the proprietary DJI O4+ transmission system used enables ultra-wide 10-bit HDR video transmission over distances of up to 30 km. With the DJI Mavic 240W power supply, the Mavic 4 Pro Parallel Charging Hub fully charges a battery in around 50 minutes according to DJI and can charge three batteries simultaneously via the mini SDC port. The Parallel Charging Hub prioritizes the battery with the lowest charge level. Once all three batteries have reached the same charge level, it switches to parallel charging and, according to DJI, fully charges all three batteries in 90 minutes.
To match the Mavic 4 Pro, DJI has developed the “RC Pro 2” remote control with a 7-inch mini LED display, a rotating screen for instant synchronization with the drone's gimbal for vertical shots and an HDMI connection. The RC Pro 2 offers an official battery life of up to 4 hours, 128 GB of built-in memory and enables audio recording via the integrated microphone or in combination with microphones from the DJI Mic series.
