At its in-house exhibition, Boomi announced new AI agents and an associated management tool for its cloud integration platform. There is also support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and new data management based on the Rivery platform acquired in December 2024. With these enhancements, Boomi is responding to the needs of its customers in the implementation of AI projects whose data is incomplete or fragmented, according to CEO Steve Lucas. The updates are intended to turn the platform into an interface for AI, company data and process automation.

Boomi relies on AI agents for this interface, with which the company aims to reduce the number of process steps required. Boomi Agentstudio will be available to all customers from May 24, 2025. With this platform, customers will be able to create their own agents in a low-code application without any programming knowledge using a prompt. They can also be managed in Agentstudio and their deployment in the company can be coordinated. Integration with Amazon's Q-Index should enable agents to gain a deep understanding of context.

Boomi also unveiled four new AI agents that are included in the Boomi Enterprise Platform out-of-the-box and at no additional cost. These include the Integration Advisor agent, which can be used to check integration processes. There is also the API Design Agent for creating OpenAPI specifications and the API Documentation Agent for automatically generating business and technical documentation from API definitions.

The Data Connector Agent can be used to design and create connectors for REST-based data sources. In addition, the new Agent Step function allows registered agents to be embedded in Boomi's Process Canvas. The Agent Control Tower is also part of Agentstudio as a management application. It is designed to provide monitoring, policy control and audit functions for AI agents in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

With the connection of Boomi Data Integration based on Rivery, the Enterprise Platform has additional data management functions. These include automated data pipelines and Change Data Capture (CDC) to ingest data from different sources, transform it and make it available for analyses and AI applications. Through the acquisition of managed data transfer provider Thru, Boomi is also expanding its integration platform to include the handling of unstructured data such as files or images.

Furthermore, the platform now includes API management to connect external tools and resources to the AI agents. The platform also supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This open standard is intended to enable a secure bidirectional connection between company data, for example from ERP systems, and AI-controlled tools. In the future, an MCP gateway will facilitate the aggregation and recognition of tools while maintaining security and governance.

Boomi also announced a multi-year cooperation with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The aim is to jointly support customers in creating, managing and controlling generative AI agents and migrating SAP applications to AWS. In addition, the Agent Control Tower will be integrated into Amazon Bedrock and the platform will receive new native connectors for AWS services such as AWS Lambda, Amazon Bedrock, DynamoDB and the Selling Partner App Store.
