Same procedure as every year: Apple is sticking to its tried-and-tested event schedule for the WWDC developer conference and has now announced the times and further details for the opening day. Many are likely to be eagerly awaiting the 7 p.m. keynote, in which the next major versions of Apple's operating systems will be presented. In addition to iOS 19, iPadOS 19, visionOS 3, tvOS 19, watchOS 12 and macOS 16 are also "on the horizon" – The latter is the title of the invitation to media representatives that Apple sent out on Tuesday evening.
The event at 7 p.m. Central European Time will be available online: on Apple's website, on YouTube and in the Developer app. A recording will be available for viewing afterwards.
1000 developers and students on site
Once again, the invitation sent out in Cupertino, California, was a bit of fun and a dig at competitor Google. The fact that the WWDC invitation, which always attracts attention on social networks, went out on the same day as Google's I/O developer conference is hardly a coincidence. Apple always communicates its WWDC date in several stages: At the beginning, there was the announcement for developers to apply to attend. The second stage, which has now taken place, is for those who want to watch the keynote from home, as well as media representatives and influencers who are invited to the company headquarters in Cupertino.
WWDC 2025 will take place from June 9 to 13. And Apple is once again opting for the online format. There will only be a comparatively small attendance component. 1,000 developers and students are expected to attend. Apple will then set up a large screen in its park where the keynote can be watched together. There will be other activities and opportunities for exchange around this event.

Most of it will take place online
Anyone interested in the technical details of the State of the Union platform should make an entry in their calendar for 10 p.m. on Whit Monday evening. Apple will then provide deeper insights into the developments around Xcode and the APIs in the developer keynote. A pre-produced video can also be expected here, which will then be available for on-demand viewing.
Interested developers can also take part in 100 technical sessions during the WWDC week. The sessions will be available in the Apple Developer App, on the website and via the YouTube channel. Developers will also have access to guides and documentation. Members of the Apple Developer Program and the Apple Developer Enterprise Program will have the opportunity to interact directly with experts in online labs for groups and in one-on-one sessions.
Mac & i and heise online report
Winners of the Swift Student Challenge will also be present at WWDC. 50 of them will be in Cupertino as Distinguished Winners.
heise online and Mac & i will again be reporting on WWDC and the innovations relating to Apple operating systems as well as possible hardware announcements on Whit Monday and afterwards from Hanover and on site in Cupertino.
