BMW Speedtop Concept: Exclusive small series at the end of the 8 Series

Last year, BMW presented the Skytop concept study based on the BMW 8 Series. This year, its fastback version "Speedtop" is coming with a similarly eye-catching symbiosis of shark front and delicate lighting elements, which could also be classified as a shooting brake. BMW intends to produce a limited series of 70 units, some of which are probably already being mentally sorted into their exclusive collection garages by well-heeled visitors.

Storage instead of rear seats

Instead of rear seats, the Speedtop offers leather-covered storage options with leather straps for luxury travel bags, with Budapest perforations in the leather serving as eye-catchers here and there. The two-tone overall work of art in the interior is supplied by the Schedoni saddlery in the usual high quality.

BMW has blown up the tried-and-tested V8 to 600 hp, and the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission is designed for such performance. After decades, the BMW Z3 Coupé, which was produced in a series of just 4000 units between 1998 and 2002, now has a conceptual, albeit much more exclusive successor in the form of the Speedtop. The Speedtop and Skytop special models also marked the end of the BMW 8 Series.
