Worldwide outages at X after fire in data center
On Friday and Saturday, X users found empty feeds, missing notifications and other errors. Elon Musk wants to respond.

Following a fire in a data center in the US state of Oregon last Thursday, there were disruptions to the X platform worldwide. According to observations by heise online, numerous German users reported on Saturday in particular that the feeds on the "FĂĽr Dich" page were empty. Others complained about missing notifications, and the inboxes for direct messages also appeared empty. By late Saturday evening and Sunday morning, the aforementioned functions were working as usual again.
As Wired reports, the fire broke out on Thursday morning (local time) and the extinguishing work lasted into the afternoon. A room with batteries, presumably part of the emergency power supply, is said to have been particularly affected. Wired refers to unnamed sources. However, the X developer site also reports global outages from the same period. It is also said that logging in was not possible, especially for US users.
Musk wants to take more care of his companies
Numerous monitoring services such as Netblocks, Downdetector and allestoerungen.de recorded an increase in user complaints during the outages. Netblocks points out in particular that the new wave of disruptions is probably not related to other error messages that had already occurred in the days before. There is not yet a detailed statement from X, but there is a post – on the temporarily unavailable platform – by owner Elon Musk. He writes there that the intended load distribution mechanisms did not work. That is why he now wants to concentrate mainly on X, xAI and Tesla as well as SpaceX again.

He is now back to working and sleeping around the clock ("24/7") in conference rooms, factories and server rooms, writes Musk. He is alluding to the fact that he is said to have lived in Tesla's factories for months on end when the company started mass production a few years ago. Both Musk and US President Donald Trump have said several times in recent weeks that the entrepreneur's political involvement in Washington and the "DOGE" agency created for him will gradually come to an end.
