After a long wait, Meta has now released an iPad version of WhatsApp in the App Store. A year and a half has passed since the first beta version for the iPad, which gave users of the messenger app hope in September. A year earlier, Meta had publicly announced for the first time that it was planning something for the iPad. However, the rumors that Meta was planning a version for the tablet go back much further.
The release had already become apparent shortly beforehand when the official WhatsApp account on X responded with a strange answer to the question about a release. The desire for an iPad version of Instagram remains open.
WhatsApp for the iPad has the full range of functions of the iPhone version. It is possible to make video and audio calls with up to 32 people, share the screen and use both the front and rear cameras.
Multitasking on the iPad
One advantage of the iPad version over iOS is that multitasking is also possible. The iPad functions Stage Manager, Split View and Slide Over can be used to open several apps at the same time. This allows users to open Messenger and the browser at the same time, for example.

WhatsApp for iPad synchronizes content with the iPhone, Mac and other devices. According to Meta, personal messages, calls and media are protected with end-to-end encryption. Additional data protection functions such as chat blocking ensure that confidential conversations can be held even if the iPad is shared with others.
