The streaming service Paramount+ is becoming pricier for new customers: As part of a restructuring of the subscription offer, Paramount is raising the monthly price for the standard subscription. In the future, it will cost 10 euros per month instead of the previous 8 euros. The new prices will apply to new customers from June 5.
Existing customers will remain at 8 euros for now, Paramount announced. However, it should only be a matter of time before they are also switched over – Existing Disney+ customers were recently given a grace period of around six months until they were upgraded to the new contracts.
The price increase in the standard subscription is not accompanied by changes to content and streaming quality. Instead, Paramount is pursuing a similar strategy to Netflix: to make the newly introduced advertising subscription more attractive, it should be priced more attractively in comparison to the cheaper ad-free subscription.

Advertising subscription also from June 5
This advertising subscription (“basic subscription”), which has been announced for some time, will also be introduced on June 5. It costs EUR 6 per month and, like the standard subscription, offers streams in Full-HD quality. Anyone who wants to watch 4K resolution in HDR must opt for the premium subscription, which costs EUR 13 per month. This premium subscription has been available since the end of March.
Figures from Paramount competitors such as Netflix show that even cheaper advertising subscriptions are well received by the streaming audience. Paramount+ is responding to this market trend with its tiered subscription system. Paramount laid the foundation for the expansion of its subscription offer at the beginning of the year with a change to its terms of use. For the first time, this mentioned different types of subscriptions. Precautions to prevent streams from different households, such as Netflix and Disney+, are not included in the revised terms of use.
