Cadillac Vistiq: Expensive E-SUV charges only hesitantly
Cadillac presents a truly huge, luxurious SUV with electric drive, whose meager average charging power is surprising.

Even brands with a strong image only sell comparatively small numbers of actually giant SUVs, other manufacturers find it even more difficult. Against this backdrop, the range on offer is astonishingly large. Cadillac also wants to get in on the act and is presenting the Vistiq, an electric SUV in the format of a Mercedes EQS SUV.
Truly big
The Vistiq measures 5.22 m in length, of which 3.09 m is accounted for by the wheelbase. Without exterior mirrors, the E-SUV is 2.03 m wide. Finally, its height of 1.79 m makes it abundantly clear that the brand is targeting potential customers who prefer a really large car. There are three rows of seats inside. Behind them there is 297 liters of luggage space, but if you fold down the third row, you can load 889 liters.
The design of the Vistiq is rather conservative both inside and out, with only the four rear lights standing out somewhat from the typical SUV design. The automatic climate control is operated via a separate display. There are inductive touch surfaces on the steering wheel. The left-hand steering column lever makes a somewhat overloaded impression. Now almost unusual, but good: the glass roof can be opened. A thermal imaging camera is also not available everywhere, even in this segment. It makes animals visible on country roads at night, for example.
Charging with 85 kW on average
Only one technical feature is surprising. Cadillac quotes 190 kW peak charging power, which means that it is not at the forefront in this respect. However, prospective customers are likely to be much more disappointed by the soft statement “from a low state of charge to 80 percent in around 45 minutes”. If the usual 10 percent is the starting point, the luxury car would need three quarters of an hour to recharge just under 64 kWh. The average charging capacity would therefore be around 85 kW. Even a Skoda Elroq (test) would be significantly higher, not to mention the currently fastest charging electric cars. That is a bitter disappointment. A small consolation is the possibility of charging with up to 22 kW alternating current.

2.9 tons unladen weight
Especially as the Vistiq, as you would expect, will not be exceptionally economical either. The WLTP already states 21.8 kWh/100 km. The net energy content of the traction battery is 91 kWh, which should be enough for 460 km. In practice, 350 km should be realistic with a little buffer and a not too hasty driving style. This is because the Vistiq is not only bulky, but also heavy – and these masses have to be set in motion first. 2.9 tons empty, the E-SUV can take 2000 kg on the hook.

)Of course, there is plenty of power elsewhere. The system output of the two motors is 452 kW, the maximum torque 880 Nm. Equipped in this way, it should be possible to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. At least occasionally, the question arises as to how many in the target group actually demand this, and where this is supposed to lead in the future? The Vistiq puts an end to the hustle and bustle at 210 km/h.
From 100,000 euros
The pricing is likely to prevent this colossus from becoming more widespread. Two equipment variants are available, both of which are very lavishly equipped. The entry-level model costs 99,640 euros, the top-of-the-range model 110,503 euros. Orders can be placed immediately and deliveries are scheduled to begin in September. Buyers can probably be pretty sure of one thing: they have chosen a model that goes beyond the mainstream – in every respect.
