Motorola has unveiled the Moto G86 Power, a mid-range smartphone for 330 euros with a massive 6720 mAh battery. The Moto G86 and Moto G56, which are similarly equipped in many areas, are also available. The cheapest model, the G56, comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and memory expansion –, two features that are now a rarity.

A few weeks after Motorola unveiled its Edge 60 series, it is now the turn of the new G models, and with the G86 Power, the company is delivering a smartphone that outperforms all new models in terms of its 6720 mAh battery. Even the Moto Edge 60 Pro only has a 6,000 mAh battery.

According to the manufacturer, the Moto G86 Power should be able to deliver a runtime of up to 53 hours and thus easily last two days without recharging. The two other Moto G models each have 5200 mAh batteries. All three G-Class devices support wired charging with 30 watts; wireless charging is not possible.

The only difference between the Motorola Moto G86 and the Moto G86 Power in terms of dimensions is the thickness. The G86 measures 161.21 Ă— 74.74 Ă— 7.8 mm. The Power is 8.65 mm thick.

All three devices share the dual camera: Motorola uses Sony's Lytia 600 sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels for the standard camera. The second rear camera with 8 MP takes pictures in ultra-wide-angle format. On the front, there is a 32 MP sensor in a so-called small punch hole.

Under the hood, the Moto G86 and G86 Power use Mediatek's Dimensity 7300 mobile processor, which can also be found in the Moto Edge 60. It uses eight dusty ARM cores [--[ four each of Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55. 8 GB of RAM flank the processor, plus 256 GB of flash memory in the G86 and G56, while 512 GB are integrated as standard in the Power model. The G56 has to make do with Mediatek's Dimensity 7060. The chip developer has not even presented the processor yet; Motorola roughly speaks of eight CPU cores with older production technology (6 instead of 4 nanometers).

There are differences between the three models when it comes to the screen: Both the Moto G86 and its power counterpart have a 120 Hz POLED display with a maximum brightness of 4500 cd/m and a diagonal of 6.67 inches. Both have a resolution of 1220 Ă— 2712 pixels, while the display of the G56 is larger at 6.72 inches, but only displays 1,080 Ă— 2,400 pixels. Instead of OLED, Motorola also uses an LCD panel with 120 Hz on the G56, which generally displays colors less crisply.

Other features of the three smartphones include IP69 water and dust protection. This protection class is also intended to protect against contact with hot water under high pressure. Hard Corning Gorilla Glass 7i sits in front of all displays. Motorola also advertises the US military standard MIL-STD-810H for high resistance on the two G86 models.

On the software side, all models come with Android 15 ex works. What Motorola is keeping quiet about is the update guarantee: there are no details on this either in the press release or on the product pages. If the new Moto G models were to adopt the update policy of their predecessors, they would only receive two new Android versions and four years of security patches. However, from June 20, five years of updates from the end of sale are mandatory for new devices throughout the EU. heise online has asked the manufacturer for clarification.

According to Motorola, the smartphones will be available in stores immediately. However, Motorola only sells the Moto G86 Power via its own website. The Moto G56 costs 250 euros and comes in the colors "Black Oyster", "Dazzling Blue", "Dill" and "Gray Mist".

The Moto G86 in the colors "Cosmic Sky", "Golden Cypress", "Chrysanthemum" and "Spellbound" costs 300 euros. The Moto G86 Power costs 330 euros and comes in the colors "Cosmic Sky", "Golden Cypress" and "Spellbound".
