"007 First Light": "Hitman" developers make James Bond playable
The makers of the "Hitman" games have turned James Bond into an action adventure: "007 First Light" is set to be launched in 2026.

James Bond will be playable again: Danish studio IO Interactive has released a first trailer for its upcoming action adventure game “007 First Light”. The title is set to be released in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, but there is no more precise date yet.

The “First Light” Bond is portrayed in the trailer as a largely blank slate: He is not modeled on any of his movie role models, but is IO's own interpretation of the world-famous super agent. He is also quite young at 26. “First Light” tells the story of the young Bond's beginnings as an agent, who is recruited into MI6 by the Royal Navy as an unconventional daredevil.
IO Interactive has made a name for itself in recent years with the “Hitman” games. They consist of sandbox missions in which Agent 47 can sneak, trick or murder his way to his target in various ways. Judging by the first trailer for “First Light”, the upcoming James Bond game will be more of a traditional action adventure with a linear structure and story focus.
Duel with a renegade agent
What is known about the story is that 007 will have to duel with the more experienced agent 009, who is described as a “master manipulator”. “When a rogue agent is to be stopped and the mission tragically fails, Bond has no choice but to work with his reluctant mentor Greenway to uncover a conspiracy and prevent an impending coup in the heart of the nation,” according to the game's Steam page.

In addition to sneaking and shooting, the James Bond adventure from IO Interactive will also feature car driving. All of this will be implemented in IO Interactive's own Glacier engine, which has already powered the “Hitman” games.
