"Resident Evil 9: Requiem" announced for 2026
The ninth main part of "Resident Evil" is called "Requiem" – and will be released in February. Publisher Capcom has released a first trailer.

Capcom is working on the ninth main part of its action horror series "Resident Evil". The new spin-off is called "Requiem" and is set to be released on February 27, 2026. Capcom has named Steam, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S – as release platforms, meaning that "Resident Evil Requiem" will not be coming to the Switch 2. The price of the upcoming game is not yet known.
A first trailer gives a foretaste of the story of the new 'Resident Evil' installment, which was announced at the Summer Game Fest. Presenter Geoff Keighley praised the new "Resident Evil" part as a new direction for the series at the presentation: "Resident Evil" should no longer just offer survival horror, but also be more cinematic than previous spin-offs.

"Technological advancements combined with the development team's extensive experience in combining stories with finely crafted characters and gameplay make for a more immersive experience than ever before," Capcom writes on the Steam page for "Resident Evil Requiem".
FBI agent is the main character
The protagonist of the new installment is an FBI agent named Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from "Resident Evil Outbreak". According to the trailer, the majority of the story will take place in Racoon City.

"Resident Evil: Requiem" is the first new main game in the horror series since "Resident Evil 8: Village", which was released in 2021. In the meantime, Capcom has mainly been busy re-releasing classic games. Since the release of "Resident Evil 8", for example, a remake of "Resident Evil 4" has been released. Further remakes are said to be in the works.
Meanwhile, Capcom is working with Playstation Productions on a new live-action film adaptation in the new "Resident Evil" universe, although few details are known about this so far.
