Service robots are already serving guests in some restaurants. Now there is a first device that is also affordable for private households. However, this is not a pure-bred serving machine, but a vacuuming and mopping robot with an additional talent. In addition to cleaning tools on the underside, the SwitchBot K20+ Pro model has a mobile loading platform on the top. It can use this to transport any objects around the home, such as coffee and croissants from the kitchen to the bed. Alternatively, it can be used as a mobile fan or for video patrols.
Thanks to these capabilities, the model was one of the stars of the CES 2025 technology trade fair at the beginning of the year. The manufacturer is now accepting pre-orders on its website. It plans to deliver by the end of July.
Mobile serving tray from 600 euros
There is initially a choice of four sets with additional devices from SwitchBot's smart home system. The basic version consists of the vacuum and mopping robot, a suction station that temporarily stores the dust and the mobile tray that can carry loads weighing up to eight kilos. At around 600 euros, the package price is more affordable than expected.

In addition to the basic set, there is also one with one of two selectable smart home cameras. They click into place on the charging base and draw power from a built-in battery. Price: 650 to 680 euros. Alternatively, SwitchBot bundles the robot with one of two swivel fans. One has its own battery (package price 700 euros), one is dependent on additional energy from the charging area (730 euros). The set with a mobile air purifier costs 840 euros. The version with a wooden surface on top costs an additional 60 euros. This gives you a mobile sample table.

From where to where the vacuum bot transports things is determined in the corresponding smartphone app using manual remote control or by defining stopping points that the vehicle controls based on rules. In terms of cleaning technology, the K20+ offers nothing out of the ordinary apart from a smaller diameter than usual. However, standards such as laser navigation and a map view are on board.
