With the Garmin Venu X1, the US manufacturer is expanding its portfolio of sports watches with a rather unusual model. It is particularly striking due to its large, angular touch display and its slim design of just 7.9 mm – The manufacturer's other models are almost twice as thick.
With its 2-inch AMOLED display and angular titanium casing, the Venu X1 is somewhat reminiscent of the Apple Watch Ultra, although Garmin has been offering models with a similar shape for years. The display has a resolution of 448Â Ă— 486 pixels and is protected by scratch-resistant sapphire glass.
Due to the thin shape of the case, the manufacturer seems to have had less space for a large battery. The battery life of up to eight days or even just two days with the always-on display activated is not much for a Garmin watch. During activities with GPS position data, the battery should last up to 16 hours. The recently announced Garmin Forerunner 970 can last up to 15 days without recharging – in GPS mode for up to 26 hours according to the manufacturer.

Without ECG and multi-band GPS
Like the Forerunner, the Venu X1 has a built-in flashlight, but it lacks the ECG function and multi-band GPS. Nevertheless, it has many health and fitness tracking functions with over 100 activity profiles on board. A pulse oximeter for measuring oxygen saturation and support for offline maps are also included.
The Venu X1 also supports offline music streaming via Bluetooth; the integrated memory is 32 GB. It also has built-in speakers and a microphone for phone calls and voice commands. According to Garmin, the watch understands commands such as "Start a running activity" or "Set a timer for five minutes". The watch also supports Garmin Pay for contactless payments and displays notifications for calls, messages and the calendar.
