Sleep apnea function of the Galaxy Watch is a long time coming

Samsung's sleep apnea detection is a long time coming: since the announcement on June 5, the company has apparently made no effort to bring the function to Galaxy watches. Even Samsung is apparently unable to provide any information on the rollout.

Galaxy Watch: Samsung users are waiting for the sleep apnea function

With the certification of sleep apnea detection for Galaxy Watches for the European market announced at the beginning of June, users hoped that Samsung would make the function available quickly. Almost 14 days later, nothing has happened – Apparently even Samsung does not know when the function will be distributed.

At least in response to an inquiry from heise online asking where the function is now, Samsung merely stated that “unfortunately there is currently no information on this”. This statement is unlikely to be particularly satisfying for Galaxy Watch owners who are waiting for the function.

Users in the heise forum are also complaining about the lack of the announced function. In one post, for example, a user writes that the introduction of the blood pressure measurement function was also a long time coming: “If this takes as long as the introduction of the blood pressure measurement function back then (TM), then it won't happen this year.”

Will the sleep apnea function only come with One UI 8 Watch?

Interestingly, Samsung mentions the sleep apnea function again in the One UI 8 Watch announcement. This raises whether the company could possibly only roll out the feature with the major OS update for its Galaxy Watches that will be released over the course of the summer.

This theory is contradicted by the fact that Samsung also wants to distribute the sleep apnea function for the Galaxy Watch 4, which is unlikely to receive the major update to One UI 8 Watch. Meanwhile, Samsung customers will have to be patient until the company distributes the function or at least makes a clear announcement.
