Gamescom 2025: Microsoft is coming with Bethesda and Blizzard
As in previous years, Microsoft will once again have a presence at Gamescom 2025: The Xbox developer is bringing Blizzard and Bethesda with it.

Recently, Microsoft has almost single-handedly kept Gamescom relevant, while Nintendo and Sony stayed away from the Cologne games fair. Microsoft will be there again this year, the Xbox company has now announced at X. Subsidiaries Bethesda and Blizzard will also be represented in Cologne from August 20 to 24.
The eleventh “WoW” expansion, “World of Warcraft: Midnight” will be on show at Blizzard in Hall 8, the developer announced. It remains to be seen what Bethesda will be showing. The studio is currently working on “The Elder Scrolls 6”, but it is probably far too early for demos at Gamescom. An obvious suspicion: There could be a new DLC for “Starfield” after “Shattered Space”.
Of course, Bethesda is not only a developer, but also a publisher. Accordingly, the recently announced DLC for “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” by MachineGames could also appear under the Bethesda banner. It is called “Order of the Giants” and is due to be launched on September 4 – Marketing and possibly opportunities to play the game at Gamescom are therefore a real possibility.

Nintendo back again
The Gamescom organizers had already landed a big fish before Microsoft: Nintendo is returning to Gamescom in 2024 after a break. The focus of attention will be on the new Switch 2 and corresponding video game material. It is likely that those previously undecided will be able to try out “Mario Kart World” and “Donkey Kong Bananza” at the trade fair.
Ubisoft, which has chosen “Anno 117” as the main content of its presence at the trade fair, will also definitely be there. “Anno 117” does not yet have a release date, but is due to be launched in winter. The fact that “Anno 117” is already playable and presentable was recently demonstrated by heise online during a play session lasting several hours.
The industry magazine Gameswirtschaft keeps a constantly updated list of Gamescom participants. It is still largely small – but a complete picture usually only emerges shortly before the start of the trade fair.
