Windows update preview for Windows 10 only for the time being

Microsoft has published a preview of the upcoming Windows updates for the July Patchday. For now, the company is providing users of Windows 10 22H2 with a preview of the non-security update components. “The non-security update previews for Windows 11 24H2, 23H2 and 22H2 will be available soon,” the manufacturer announced.

In the Windows Release Health Message Center, the developers discuss the salient points for the Windows 10 update. They have updated the included Windows “curl” tool for downloading data from the web to version 8.13.0. The update also corrects a device registration error in the “Entra ID Windows Account Manager” (WAM) plug-in.

Several bug fixes

The developers also highlight that they have resolved a problem with the complete removal of unused language packs and feature on demand (FOD) packs. Previously, this led to unnecessary space consumption and extended time requirements for Windows updates. Microsoft also considers it important to correct the error that caused jump lists to disappear from the Start menu.

Microsoft also provides a detailed overview of the Windows 10 preview update KB5061087 on the support page. After the update, the Windows build is 19045.6036. It still contains information that errors with the error code 0x8001011 could occur in the Component Object Model (COM) function during remote COM activations. The developers are also making a new attempt to correct the scan function of USB-connected multifunction printers with dual-protocol interfaces. The scanners could not be addressed previously.

Microsoft also plans to distribute update previews for Windows 11 shortly. If the scope of the changes is significantly larger, we will look at these in a new report.

At the end of May, Microsoft modified the Copilot AI and “Click to do” in the update preview.
