DJI joins the ranks of e-bike suppliers: at Eurobike in Frankfurt, seven manufacturers are showcasing e-bikes with the Avinox motor developed by DJI, including Commencal, Velo de Ville and Rotwild. The new launches not only make the DJI system more affordable, for the first time it is also available in a bike that is not a mountain bike.

In the c't test, the Avinox motor developed by DJI impressed with its brute power and left the market leaders Bosch and Shimano behind on the mountain. So far, however, the motor has only been found in high-priced e-mountain bikes, initially in three Amflow models from DJI. In spring, the Spanish manufacturer Unno presented an enduro mountain bike with the Avinox motor.

Most of the new products presented at Eurobike are also e-mountain bikes. The manufacturers Commencal, Crestline, Forbidden, Megamo and Rotwild are among the new recipients of the system consisting of motor, battery, display unit and app.

In the test, the Avinox drive impressed not only with its raw power, but also with a successful automatic support system, fast battery charging times and a comprehensive app. The latter collects countless data on the routes you have completed and offers various options to adjust the bike to your personal needs. A dedicated navigation system and anti-theft protection are also built in; unlike Bosch, DJI does not require you to take out a paid subscription for anti-theft protection.

Velo de Ville's presentation at the Eurobike stands out from the crowd. This is because the Revo-C is a city bike. Including mudguards and pannier rack, the bike weighs 19.9 kilograms. The frame contains a 600 Wh battery unit that can be charged from 0 to 75 percent in one and a half hours.

The 2.52 kilogram DJI motor briefly delivers up to 1000 watts in boost mode and develops 120 Newton meters of torque. Even without the boost button pressed, the motor has a maximum torque of 105 Newton meters. In the saddle of the Avinox, it pushed us up even the steepest of ramps. We were able to test ride the combination of lightweight city bike and powerful motor briefly at the Frankfurt exhibition grounds and convince ourselves of its enormous propulsion. Velo de Ville announced prices starting at 3999 euros for the city bike.
