watchOS 26: Beta 2 crashes the Hermès Apple Watch
Users of the Apple Watch Hermès report problems with the latest watchOS beta. Apple has a clear recommendation.

The current second developer version of watchOS 26 may cause problems with a certain Apple Watch model. As Apple itself writes in its instruction leaflet, the pre-release version is not suitable for Hermès models of the computer watch. Problematically, however, installation is possible – and leads to permanent crashes.
Problems with the watch and iOS 26 beta 2
“The Apple Watch Hermès constantly crashes after the update to watchOS 26 Beta 2. It is recommended that these users do not update to Beta 2,” Apple writes succinctly. But it doesn't seem to stop there: According to Macrumors, the watch can also overheat and refuses to charge. Furthermore, there are also said to be difficulties with iOS 26 Developer Beta 2 – The Apple Watch application, which is used to configure the computer watch, can no longer be opened as long as an Apple Watch Hermès is connected to the iPhone.

At least the latter problem can be solved by directly disconnecting the watch itself. The watch is usually deleted in the process, and a backup would then have to be restored. However, this is not possible with iPhones running iOS 26 Developer Beta 2, as this does not allow pairing of the Apple Watch Hermès. Users will therefore have to wait until Apple releases a new – beta, which will hopefully be bug-fixed –. The reason for the error seems to be that the Apple Watch Hermès comes with its watch faces, among other things, which then seems to lead to compatibility issues.
No fix yet – Apple must update
Currently, you should definitely avoid using iOS 26 Developer Beta 2 if you own an Apple Watch Hermès – and do not update it to watchOS 26 Developer Beta 2. Apple has not yet published instructions on how to get the watch working again – presumably it will have to be deleted and the software reinstalled. Again, wait until watchOS 26 Developer Beta 3 is released with a bug fix (including instructions).
This example shows that you should be careful with beta versions. Currently, the beta phase of iOS 26 and watchOS 26 as well as the other new operating systems is only aimed at developers anyway. They (hopefully) only test betas on devices that are not in productive operation. A more stable beta is not expected until July, when Apple plans to make its first public beta of iOS 26 and co. available.
