The association, which developed what is probably the first truly sustainable and fair mouse, would like to hand over the project. The goal has been achieved.

“It's good now, it's finished now,” says association founder Susanne Jordan in an interview with heise online. Almost 16 years ago, she began designing what is now called “Faire Maus”. Three years later, in 2012, the now-founded association “Nager IT” was able to sell the first devices. Since then, over 100,000 units have been sold and the association believes it has achieved its goal of proving that such a device is feasible.

Jordan does not see it as her task to maintain production and sales in the long term. “We don't really want to do it,” says Jordan about the demands of running a permanent business. The association therefore now wants to hand over the project. Nager IT is open to private investment, including the sale of the entire concept. Initial talks took place at the end of June 2025, says Jordan. Money was also discussed, but the amount remains confidential. The association will then work on other sustainability projects; Jordan himself wants to write a children's book, among other things.

One impetus for the search for a new home for the Fair Mouse was the “Blue Angel” eco-label, which the mouse received at the end of 2024. It is the first device in the category “Computers, keyboards and mice (DE-UZ 78)” to be registered on the Blue Angel website. And is the only mouse there so far. The Fair Mouse is assembled in an integration workshop in Regensburg and the supply chain is fully published.

Wear parts such as buttons, scroll wheel and cable are available individually as replacements. The Fair Mouse is therefore not only about the best possible working conditions for suppliers and assemblers, but also about sustainability. Susanne Jordan explained the hurdles that had to be overcome in a detailed interview back in 2023. How Nager IT envisions a successor can be found on the association's own website.
