From minimalism to colorful landscapes: The pictures of the week

This week's selection of images of the day takes us into a colorful world: a cormorant on a weathered wooden pole, a fuel tank in a play of light and lines and a rooster in a call show how diverse expression can be in photography. With a keen sense of light, composition and detail, our gallery photographers capture scenes that tell stories – quietly, powerfully and full of atmosphere.

Swinoujscie 6

DiSe.fotografie 's shot of the cormorant on a weathered wooden pole tells a quiet story of peace, balance and the beauty of nature. Using the stylistic device of high-key photography with a high proportion of white in the image, the subject almost seems to float. This draws all attention to the elegant silhouette of the bird. The reduced color palette and the clear arrangement create an almost meditative mood, perfect for the eye that longs for tranquility.

Fuel tank

In his series "a day at the harbor", our gallery photographer ispin photographed this fuel tank with stairs. Here, minimalism meets industrial architecture. A play of light, lines and surfaces is created. The staircase winds elegantly in a gentle curve over the bluish outer wall of the silo, casting a fascinating play of shadows with a graphic effect. The monochrome color palette lends the scene a calm atmosphere.

Lofoten coast

The spectacular bridges on the coast of the Lofoten Islands in Norway wind their way through a breathtaking coastal landscape. Dave-derbis visited this place that seems to come from a dream. The colors of the sea change from deep blue to crystal clear turquoise and make the small islands look like green jewels. The bridge not only connects land masses, but also nature and technology in a fascinating way. A moment of vastness and awe, captured and photographed from the air.

Good Morning

Gallery photographer Anne Bender (anbeco4macro) visited the Eckenhagen Monkey and Bird Park in June. "It took me a few attempts to catch the proud white cockerel at the moment of crowing so that it was well cropped. The roosters running free there were having a loud battle of words," she says about the situation. The image is razor-sharp, with impressive detail in the skin structure and feathers. The result is an expressive portrait of a bird in profile. The uniformly blurred, green background clearly highlights the subject and creates a clear image effect. The natural light brings out the intense red and yellow tones of the cockerel. The composition is lively and dynamic thanks to the open beak and the view into the distance.

Dam wall

The Möhne dam in atmospheric evening light. "When the dam becomes too full, the water runs out over the dam wall. This only happens quite rarely," reports gallery photographer blueout. The clear symmetry of the dam wall combined with the gentle color gradient of the sky and the falling water create an impressive pictorial effect; a powerful scene.

Evening light

Analoochjehtooch portrays a single tree in the African savannah at sunset. It is perfectly centered in the picture. The warm, pink-purple color palette of the sky creates a dramatic yet peaceful mood. The foreground is slightly out of focus, which clearly directs the focus onto the tree. The horizontal lines of the landscape also bring balance to the composition.

Chefchaouen

Tobias Hucker photographed a man dressed in a white djellaba walking through the blue-painted alleyway in the medina of Chefchaouen. The picture plays with the strong contrast between the intense blue of the house facades and the white robe. The light shining through between the roofs creates a gentle atmosphere. The perspective of the narrow alleyway deliberately draws the eye into the depths and lends the motif a calm dynamism, while the textures of the stone paving and weathered walls add authenticity and character to the image. The overall result is a quiet scene full of cultural depth.
