"Samsung Galaxy G Fold": hints of tri-fold device discovered in One UI 8
Samsung's first tri-fold smartphone could be presented at the Unpacked event on July 9. Hints about the device have been discovered in One UI 8.

The Samsung "Galaxy G Fold" –, as it is presumably called –, could be unveiled during the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9. Android Authority has found several animations and images in the One UI 8 beta that show the tri-fold smartphone or "Trifoldable". This should soon give Huawei's Mate XT some competition.
One UI 8 hints at "tri-fold" device with "G-shaped" folding
According to the images, the device consists of three elements and two hinges. The left element features three rear cameras in the typical Samsung design, the "outer display" with punch-hole camera can be seen in the middle and the third element, which is apparently placed in the middle when folded, is on the right.
Samsung's Tri-Foldable differs from Huawei's Mate XT in its design: Huawei's model has an inward-folding hinge and an outward-folding hinge, referred to as an "S-shaped" fold. In Samsung's Tri-Foldable, the hinges are apparently folded inwards from two sides. This fold is described as "G-shaped".
With Samsung's model, the user must follow the correct sequence: first the right, then the left side. The hinges are said to have different sizes for this purpose. In addition, users are apparently shown a warning if they fold it incorrectly.

Samsung's Tri-Fold device expected in the fourth quarter
Even though Samsung could possibly show the device at the Unpacked event, it does not appear to go on sale until later. According to the Korean newspaper The Bell, Samsung is not expected to start production until September in order to launch it in the fourth quarter. It is also said that it will initially be produced in small series to test the market response. It is still uncertain whether it will be available in Europe at all.

The fact that Samsung is working on such a device was already hinted at during the Galaxy S25 event at the beginning of the year. The manufacturer showed a slide on which such a tri-fold device was depicted alongside AR glasses.
In addition to new models of the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, updates to the smartwatches in the Galaxy Watch series are expected at the Unpacked event on July 9.
